“The Church is a family of families, constantly enriched by the lives of all those domestic churches.”
-Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia/The Joy of Love
Bishop Bradley has written a pastoral guide to Amoris Laetitia entitled, "Amoris Laetitia: Five Principles of Pastoral Ministry." The 15-page booklet is available for download [see left].
Background:
On April 8, 2016, Pope Francis released his post-synodal apostolic exhortation, Amoris Laetitia/The Joy of Love: On Love in the Family. [Bishop Bradley's statement on The Joy of Love is available here.]
This exhortation is in response to the 2014 and 2015 Ordinary Synods where topics specifically tied to marriage and family life were discussed. Pope Francis' exhortation does not alter Church teaching in any way. It instead focuses on treating everyone with mercy and walking beside them wherever they are in life, guiding them to Jesus. It focuses on strengthening marriage from marriage prep through family planning, raising and educating children, and during marital strains, reaffirming marriage and the family as the building block of society.
The full exhortation can be read online at the Vatican website. It is available in Spanish here.
