Why did you become a seminarian? I became a seminarian because I saw the priest as the one who is the closest to Our Lord in this life, and I wanted to be as close to Him as possible. I also saw the priesthood as a life filled with meaning, and becoming a seminarian is simply the path to the priesthood. The seminary is something like the womb of the Virgin Mary where young men come to be formed into other Christs.
Who is your favorite saint, and why? This is a good question, but a difficult one to answer. I have learned much from St. Joseph and St. Therese of Lisieux through the example of their lives. I also owe a great debt of gratitude to St. Louis De Montfort and St. Alphonsus Liguori for what they have taught me about Our Blessed Mother. However, I believe if I discussed this with all the saints, they would likely prompt me to choose St. Joseph, while he himself would likely remain silent about the whole thing, knowing he is most worthy to be the favorite, but too humble to say so. Final answer: St. Joseph.
What are some of your favorite hobbies? Anything that draws me to experience truth, beauty, and goodness. This often means reading stories, poetry, writing, watching a good movie, going on a hike/run at a park, or singing/listening to music. Also, playing board games or cards with friends and family.
What advice would you give to someone discerning the priesthood? Pray. Visit Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament often… daily, if possible. If you don’t know how to pray, then learn the Rosary and The Blessed Mother will show you. She will let you know what to do and when.
